Scope and content
This fonds comprises six series containing government correspondence, letters, reports, and other documents pertaining to the disposesssion of Japanese Canadians (particularly fishing vessels and real estate), the use of seized Japanese Canadian farmland in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia for returning World War II veterans, policies pertaining to the forcible uprooting of Japanese Canadians from restricted areas of British Columbia and the forcible exile of Japanese national citizens to Japan, land ownership and property ownership rights of Japanese Canadians, the use of Japanese Canadian newspaper publications, comparisons of the policies between Canada and the United States regarding the treatment of Japanese Canadians and Japanese Americans, respectively, and post-war realities felt by the Japanese Canadian community.
