Mangiro Kurahashi to Mr. George Peters, 28 July 1945

Minto Mine, B. C. July 28, 1945.
Mr. George Peters,
Administration Department,
506 Royal Bank Building, Vancouver, B. C.
Your File No. 6650
Dear Sir:-
I have received your letter of July 23, 1945 with regard to the sale of my property known as Lot 12, & N½ 11, Blk. 20, Sec. 3, B3N, R7W, Map 249., at 4th & Broadway, Steveston, B. C.
As I have clearly mentioned in my letter of May 7, 1945 and as you are no doubt aware, I have never consented to the sale nor ratified it but have at all time and do now object to the sale of my said property. Because, however, I am a member of a Self Supporting Housing Project I have to request from you the full amount of the proceed of the sale of the property in order to maintian myself and my family but in doing so I wish it made clear that it is only being accepted under protest and without prejudice to any rights which I have or may have arising out of what I consider the wrongful sale and disposition of my property.
Yours truly

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
