This file also contains correspondence with the <orgName ref="org:ssbx1">Soldier Settlement Board</orgName>, capturing their interest in Japanese Canadian owned property; conversations with <persName ref="prs:mcph2">G.W. McPherson</persName> in 1942 and 1943; letters of protest from Japanese Canadians against the forced sale of their property; correspondence of the <orgName ref="org:doea1">Department of External Affairs</orgName> concerning the "repatriation" policy; and documents concerning the anxieties of the <orgName>RCMP</orgName> and others regarding potential for Japanese "sabotage" (particularly on the railroads). Minutes from a meeting of the <orgName ref="org:icei1">Interdepartmental Committee on Enemy Interest in Canada and Canadian Interest in Enemy Occupied Territory</orgName> and notes on persons of Japanese ancestry permitted to remain in the "protected area" (documenting intermarriages) are also within.</p>
