The file comprises Department of National War Services, Directorate of Censorship documents for intercepted letters written by Japanese Canadians from 01 May 1944 to 31 May 1944. These documents contain excerpts taken from the private correspondence of Japanese Canadians along with comments from those who examined the intercepted letters. Some of the intercepted letters have been translated from Japanese to English and some is labelled as "PRISONER OF WAR MAIL".

The digital copies of the records were acquired by the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective between 2014 and 2018.
