The directories are people and street indexes published in BC from select years between 1930 and 1949. The primary locations for these directories are the Powell Street neighbourhood in Vancouver, Haney and Steveston. During the research phase of the LOI project, the team engaged in early development of the digital archive by encoding these directories following TEI conventions. Within the directories are a wealth of names, locations, and businesses that tell the story of community life before the uprooting as well as after. This dataset is a good resource for community members conducting family research who have ancestors who lived at these locations; they can reveal not only addresses but livelihoods and professional information as well.
