            <salute>Dear Sir:</salute>
         </opener>
         <div>
            <p>I wish to acknowledge with many thanks your reply of <date when="1946-07-15">July 15th</date> and enclosed cheque of <num>$226.18</num>.</p>
            <p>I must bring to your attention the fact that the house has not been accounted for in the sale and hereby register my protest. The sale of lots were far below the market values and it is most unreasonable to expect anyone to be satisfied with the deals made.</p>
            <p>The sale by auction of certain chattels were also disgracefully low.</p>
            <p>There were also several boxes of china and silver that <choice><sic>wer</sic><corr>were</corr></choice> removed from <location type="subjectProperty">
                  <address>
                     <street>
                        <num>1945</num> W. 35th <choice>
                           <abbr>Ave.</abbr>
                           <expan>Avenue</expan>
                        </choice>
                     </street>
                  </address>
               </location> at the same time as the huge kitchen range with sawdust burner attached. These boxes have not been accounted for and the enclosed list will show you the contents. As you can see, a great many of these articles can hardly be replaced and some compensation would certainly be appreciated.</p>
            <p>The china dinner set purchased at <orgName>Millar and Coes</orgName> is still available on the market and thus replacable. Would you be so good as to do what you can for us in this regard?</p>
            <p>The Rogers Silver chest was evidently auctioned off and was listed under a list of articles disposed of at the same time. Fortunately the flat ware was removed before the Custodian went to demand the goods left with our friends and it will not be necessary for any further search for them.</p>
            <p>It is indeed heart breaking to think that articles we desired to keep have all been disposed of without permission. I do not think that your office can realize the extreme difficulty we have encountered in trying to re-establish ourselves in a new location. Although it was taking a long time, it was impossible to send for our possessions until we were settled.</p>
            <p>However, if your department can do something to make some compensations for losses incurred, we would be very greatful.</p>
            <p>Enclosed you will find a Money <choice><sic>Oder</sic><corr>Order</corr></choice> for <num>$3.00</num> in accordance with your notice of <date when="1946-07-24">July, 24th.</date> for shipping charges of photographs now discovered in your warehouse. I will certainly be very happy to see them again.</p>
