He was born on 1 August 1902. His birth name may have been Naosuke Tamaki. His family includes Toku Maeda (mother; nee Toku Michibata), Komedichi Maeda (father), Tsuruko Maeda (wife; in Japan), Yuriko Maeda (daughter; in Japan), Tami Tamaki (birth mother), and Kusumatsu Tamaki (birth father). Ocean Falls, BC and 501 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC are listed as former addresses. He was forcibly uprooted to Kelowna, BC and was exiled to Japan on 24 December 1946.
