Mankichi Higo
Higo was born on 05 September 1884. He was a fisherman employed by Anglo
British Columbia Packers, Steveston, BC. His family includes Ichi Higo (wife;
nee Ichi Hamasaki; in Japan) and Noboru Higo (son; born on 15 March 1927; in Japan).
He
lived in Steveston, BC and in Canee Pass, Westham Island, BC and was forcibly
uprooted to Picture Butte, AB; Raymond, AB; Turin, AB; and Iron Springs, AB.
His seized or destroyed property includes: boat “Skylark”; fishing equipment;
carpenter’s tools; household belongings; boat building equipment; gramophone
records; photos; garden tools; case of “Jap figures”; kimono [donated to
U.N.R.R.A.]; Japanese books and novels [discarded].
