Tarumoto was born on 10 July 1894. His file lists that he was also known as Hamasaburo
Harutomi; he changed his name to Hamasaburo Tarumoto by adoption into his wife’s family.
He was a fisherman formerly employed by B.C. Packers, Steveston, BC. His family includes
Kumae Tarumoto (wife), Kazuro Tarumoto (son; born on 17 September 1928), Tsuyoshi
Tarumoto [also, Tsuyashi Tarumoto] (son; born on 11 June 1930), and Saburo Tarumoto
(son; born on 04 October 1932). He lived at 89 Chatham Street, Steveston, BC and was
forcibly uprooted to Searle Farms, East Selkirk, MB. His listed seized property includes:
boat “H.T.”; boat “Kayen”; fishing equipment; household belongings; bicycle.
