His family includes Yasu Yasui (mother; nee Yasu Yano; in Japan), Kinma Yasui (father; in Japan), Tsuyu Yasui (wife; nee Tsuyu Tamura), Shozo Yasui (son; born on 17 March 1928), Wakako Yasui (daughter; born on 07 September 1929), Shinako Yasui (daughter; born on 06 July 1931), Ayako Yasui (daughter; born on 01 July 1934), Fukashi Yasui (son; born on 21 January 1937), and Atsushi Yasui (son; born on 22 June 1939). He lived at Canadian Pacific Cannery, Steveston, BC and was forcibly uprooted to Raymond, AB and Cranford, AB.
