Scope and content
Kanezde Oyadomari, Masakichi Yano, Giutano Nishii, Shimakichi Sakai, Saupei Nishino, and Ichitaro Kai were accused of assaulting Victoria prospector Sydney Seymour Saunders on 23 April 1903. He had been working at Sydney Saw Mills along with the accused when the alleged assault happened. From the victim’s deposition it appears the dispute arose over the dismissal of four or five Japanese employees and outstanding payments to the workers.
