Scope and content
Annotated Crown Brief Rex v. Van Horst. Van Horst is charged and found guilty of the murder of Japanese Canadian man Yazo Ogawa on a boat near Salt Spring Island. The circumstances of the murder involve two white men enlisting Ogawa and his fishing boat to transport some stolen goods. Van Horst’s accomplice James Lester testifies against him as witness to Van Horst shooting Ogawa at Beaver Point after a dispute.
