Case on Appeal in the Supreme Court of Canada on appeal from the Court of Appeal for British Columbia, Rex v. Marino and Yip. Marino
and Yipp are charged with drug distribution of cocaine and morphine. Bust happened
in the Fulton Rooms (137 Hastings St., Vancouver) owned by S. Shimizu (see licence list). [Appears as though owner of the Fulton Rooms at time of the bust
is the accused Yipp, but maybe this leads to Shimizu’s ownership?] Yipp was sentenced

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
