In a personal letter to J.A. Motherwell, George Alexander expresses his dissatisfaction that the Post-war Rehabilitation Council “did whittle
down” his recommendations regarding Japanese Canadian fishermen returning to the Pacific
coast after the war. His recommendation was “emphatical that Japanese should not be
permitted to re-enter the fisheries of British Columbia.
