Provincial Post-war Rehabilitation Council list of plans and proposals Item #196 from Peachland Local of B.C.F.G.A. proposes
no fishing licences be issued to Japanese Canadians and that “returned men” be encouraged
to take their place. Memo to Industrial development committee discusses white fishermen
taking opportunity in Tofino where Japanese Canadian fishermen used to operate, more general section "Japanese
in BC" refers to vessels being given to white fishermen, recommends against allowing Japanese
Canadians return to fishing industry based on economic argument.
