Scope and content |
The Post-War Rehabilitation Council issued this report in accordance with the Post-war Rehabilitation Act and Order-in-Council
354. The council notes that British Columbia has a particular set of difficulties for peacetime demographics given the displacement
of Japanese Canadians. The Council did not consider Japanese Canadian contributions
to BC fisheries prior to the war very significant and recommended that they not be
allowed to return to fisheries after the war.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
