Scope and content
Deep Bay Logging Company was incorporated under the BC Companies Act on 7 August 1922 as a joint-stock company. This file contains the registry certificates (signed by Samuel A. Moore, Eikichi Kagetsu and F. Tanaki) as well as mortgage particulars, and annual reports from 1922 to 1943. In 1925 shares were purchased by Kagetsu, Kagetsu & Co. and J. Nakamura. After 1942, Kagetsu’s address changed from Vancouver to Minto British Columbia; shareholders included Kagetsu, Tsurataro Kagetsu, Sandanori Kikuchi, Sawaichi Irizawa, Mrs. T. Kagetsu, Manji Ushizawa, and Carl M. Stewart. The Custodian of Enemy Property signed a resolution for the liquidation of the company on 29 November 1946. The company submitted its last return of the “voluntary winding-up” in 1952.
