| Scope and content |
This is a scrapbook compiled by Vancouver Alderman Halford Wilson. It contains mostly newspaper clippings with periodic comments or markings. Included
are a poster from the Immediate Action Committee of Victoria asking for the internment of Japanese-Canadians, and a threatening cut-out by a correspondent
signed as “Sa-Ru-Na-Da.” There are also a couple of cardboard flags of one labelled,
“The Naval Flag of Japan” and the other, “The National (and Military Flag) called
‘Hi no Maru.’”

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
