Dear Sir:
There are quite a number of fishermen in the Monterey Harbor who are anxious to obtain small diesel boats 40 ft. to 60 ft. in length, and with 60 to 100 H.P. engines, according to the size of the boat.
We don’t know if you have any of those Japanese boats for sale or not, and would be willing to sell them to the fishermen here in the States, but if you do have any for sale, will you be good enough to communicate with us as we can pass the word along to the fishermen who are looking for the boats, and would be glad to go up there and arrange for purchasing them.
Thanking you for your prompt answer, we are
Very truly yours,
HOVDEN FOOD PRODUCTS CORP.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
