This file includes government correspondence regarding the forced uprooting of Japanese Canadians from the coast of British Columbia and their treatment in internment and work camps. In a letter to the Department of External Affairs by the Consul General of Spain, the Consul emphasizes the Canadian government's war-time treatment of Japanese Canadians, for example, saying that forced uprooting, compulsory labour, and family separation represent an "unprecedented outrage of humanity."
