This file, maintained by R.G. Robertson, includes correspondence and records pertaining to the deportation of Japanese Canadians and Japanese nationals. It includes the following: the Supreme Court Reference Case on the Validity of Orders-in-Council; copies of P.C. 7355, 7356, 7357, 10773; correspondence on discussions of Deportation Order in Cabinet in December 1945; discussions of inquiring into "loyalty" of Japanese citizens; on draft recommendations to council for deportation and revocation of naturalization and citizenship; surveys on applications for "repatriation"; correspondence on the proposed loyalty commission; copy of P.C. 5637; the brief submitted by the CCJC regarding the "repatriation" of Japanese Canadians; and correspondence pertaining to an exchange of nationals policy.
