Scope and content
This file contains minutes, memoranda, and correspondence of the Cabinet Committee on Japanese Problems from 1950 to 1951. Included are documents relating to financial needs for the Japanese welfare and administration in BC, the implementation of claims awards (the Bird report) following the Bird Commission and the Co-operative Committee on Japanese Canadians's and JCCA's protests (on the lack of interest payment on awards: "entirely inconsistent with the universal practice in compensation cases"). Also notable is a protest memorandum regarding the Orders-in-Council PC 1945-7355, 1945-7356 and 1945-7357 for the deportation of Canadians of Japanese racial origin prepared by the CCJC.
