This file consists primarily of administrative records relating to the role of A.H. Brown in the Department of Labour. It includes correspondence pertaining to Japanese Canadian labourers and property leased by the government during wartime (e.g., Popoff, Tashme leases). Other documents included concern the following: the hostels where Japanese "repatriates" were held; the closing of internment sites and the "relocation" and dispersal of Japanese Canadians; allowances given to Japanese Canadian families; and reports on lumber camps where Japanese Canadians worked during wartime.
