This file contains records pertaining to "Japanese Immigration" from 1941 to 1947.
It includes records relating to the following: the Standing Committee on Orientals in British Columbia; strong opposition to the immigration of Japanese nationals in Canada in the early 1940s; the deportation of persons of Japanese origin after the war (e.g.,
letters for and against this position); concerns over property ownership by Japanese
Canadians and property dispossession; the "movement through Canada of United States citizens of the Japanese race" in 1945; a Loyalty Commission inquiry and other questions
of citizenship; and the possible return to Canada from Japan of exiled individuals.
