Oak Bluff, Man.,
April 20, 1944.
The Custodians Office,
Dept. of the Sec. of State
Vancouver, B.C. Dear Sir:-
I received the notice of my Land Sale and the price which you had settled and I wish to say that the sale price is really very cheap for all the labor and improvements I had made up to now. When I purchased the land, I paid $100 per Acre and then I cleared the land and put buildings on it so I wish that you will raise the price. I do not want to sell the property at all but if necessary would ask a much better price. I am old now and unable to work very much so the sum around $356. would not help me very much.
Hoping to hear from you, I remain,
Yours truly,

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
