c/o Sorg Pulp Co.,
Taylor Lake, B.C. Dear Sir:
We are in receipt of your letter of June 14, 1944.
Your remarks have been carefully read and we can appreciate that the disposal of your property will be a matter of personal concern. However, the sale of properties to the Director, The Veterans' Land Act was carried out as a part of a policy of liquidation outlined by Ottawa on the basis of appraised values.
Your letter has been placed in our files so that your comments in regard to this sale will remain on record but we can only advise you that we are unable to consider any alternative in regard to this matter.
You will note on the face of the statement showing property sale adjustments that the amount of $27.46 was credited to cover the unexpired insurance premium as at January 1st, 1943. This insurance figure was calculated by the Insurance Department on a pro rata basis.
Funds are available to you upon request.
Yours truly, Farm Department

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
