Dept. of the Secretary of State,
Japanese Evacuation Section,
Vancouver, B. C.
Dear Sir:
In reference to your letter of June 16th, we wish to inform you that the sale price of $1032.00 is both unfair and unsatisfactory. The assessed value of our property in Whonnock
as estimated on the tax receipt forms reads $2450.00. Furthermore, prior to evacuation, we constructed a house which cost us approximately
$500.00. It is therefore, obvious that we cannot accept any deal less than $2900.00.
Yours truly,

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
