Registration No. 13326,
Tashme, B.C., Dear Sir:
We are in receipt of your letter of July 4th, 1944.
Your remarks have been carefully read and we can appreciate that the disposal of your property will be a matter of personal concern. However, the sale of properties to the Director, The Veterans' Land Act was carried out as a part of a policy of liquidation outlined by Ottawa on the basis of appraised values.
Your letter has been placed in our files so that your comments in regard to this sale will remain on record but we can only advise you that we are unable to consider any alternative in regard to this matter.
With reference to your Pacific Co-operative Union share certificates, the 1937 and 1938 shares are redeemable at this time. If you would sign your certificates on the reverse side and forward them to this office we will have them redeemed and the funds either credited to your account or forwarded to you.
Yours truly, Farm Department

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
