Dear Sir:
Re: Catalogue No. 228
1108 Raymur Avenue
12/116/181
Your letter of June 21st informed me that my property consisting of 1108 Raymur Avenue was in the course of
sale. Recently, I have been informed, by the caretaker, that he was notified by your
Department that the house had been sold.
I do not think that it is fair not to have consulted me in regard to the valuation
appraised on the said property and also whether or not it was my wish to dispose of
same.
If and when such a property is sold, I think it only right that the Custodian should
notify me of the amount for which it was sold without my asking for such a statement.
Although my protest will have very little weight in the matter, I am informing you
that it was very much against my wishes to have the property sold.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
