Tsuneziro Mizuyabu to The Office of the Custodian, 29 September 1944

68 Fir Ave., Lemon Creek, B. C., Sept. 29, 1944.
The Office of the Custodian, 506 Royal Bank Bldg., Vancouver, B. C. Dear Sir:
I was informed by the Spanish Consul in Vancouver that my house on 238 Chelsea St., Nanaimo, B. C. is to be sold by the Custodian. I do not want my house to be sold and besides I have been paying tax for my house ever since the war so I do not see any reason why it should be sold. I don't think you have any rights of selling it so I don't want it to be sold. If you sell it there will be some trouble over this matter after the War.
And I have not received the rent for my house, which is now over due so will you please send it as soon as possible.
Yours truly,

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
