Mr. Takeo Yoshida, 40 Gilead, Lemon Creek, B. C. Dear Sir:
Catalogue No. 310 1672 W. 2nd Avenue
We are in receipt of your letter of February 12th, regarding the above real property and as, presumably, your letter has been written on behalf of your father also, he being the registered owner of the property, we are enclosing an extra copy of this letter that you may pass same on to him.
Your letter has been carefully read and we can appreciate that the disposal of this property is a matter of personal concern to you and your father. However, we would point out that the sale of all such Japanese owned properties is being carried out as a part of the policy of liquidation outlined by the Canadian Government in Ottawa on the basis of independent valuations.
Your letter has been placed upon our files so that your comments with regard to this sale will remain on record, but we can only advise you that we are unable to consider any alternative in regard to this matter.
Yours truly, Administration Department.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
