Macer Okamoto to R G Bell Esq., 03 May 1946

Copy for Mrs. Harrop (re Cat. 877).
457 Windermere Rd., Windsor, Ont. May 3rd, 1946.
R G Bell Esq. 506 Royal Bank Bldg., Vancouver, B. C. Dear Sir:
Re: File Nos. 485 and 495.
I wish to register my protest against the proposed sale of above property.
It's quite understandable when you seize the property of a foreign national and sell same but as a Canadian-born I cannot see the reason for the apparent un-Democratic action you are taken in disposing of our property against our wishes.
Furthermore, I think you are selling at a give-away price. Regardless of what you may have the price listed at I'm willing to wager that you couldn't pick up any other property in that district at anywhere near the price.
Yours truly,

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
