W E Anderson to Mr. Masahiro Sakamoto, 30 December 1946
COPY FOR Mr. Shears' COMPLAINT FILE.
We wish to acknowledge your letter of the 16th December, and have carefully noted your remarks.
The sale of Japanese properties was carried out by this office on instruction from
the Canadian Government at Ottawa on the basis of appraised valuations. While we realize that this is a matter of personal
concern to you, we are unable to consider any alternative in the matter.
Your letter however will be placed on your file where it will be available at any
time necessary, setting out your disapproval of the transaction.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
