K Okano to George Peters, 11 February 1947
copy for Mr. Shears
Your letter of February 5, 1947, you have stated that you have sent me my sewing machine, but this was marked "M Okano" which belongs to my mother so please send me my own sewing machine. This M. Okano
was sent to me on May 11, 1943 by freight.
You have sent me my balance of $37.15 which is my entire balance. It is not satisfactory to me so I cannot accept this
cheque at present so I am sending you back this cheque #5930.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
