COMPLAINT LETTER - Cheque returned
COPY For Mr. Shears
Box 195,
Geraldton, Ont.
Feb. 26, 1947
Department of the Secretary of State,
Dear Sir:
I am obliged to return to you a cheque enclosed herewith which you sent me the other
day.
I am sorry to say that your disposition upon my belonging is very unfair, you did
not send any detail of statement, and the net proceeds from sale of my chattels is
absolutely unsatisfactory, that am unable to accept this cheque.
Yours truly,
Cheque was sent to Chiyoko (Mrs. Matasaburo) SANO, Reg.No.07793, File 7853. The letter appears to be from her husband. The chattels were reported by both.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
