Dear Sir:-
On the occasion of my trip to Vancouver early this month, I was able to have fifty-six
boxes of library books sent to my present home in Lacombe, Alberta.
Aside from these Japanese library books, there were five hundred and forty-four (544)
books belonging to me which I reported and left in the care of the Custodian at the
time of my departure from Vancouver in June of 1942. When I made a trip to Vancouver in June, 1944 however, I brought back with me about fifty of the books.
One of the purposes of my recent return to Vancouver was to recover the remainder
of my books. But I found that every book was missing. Among the colelction were
many fine books which are irreplaceable at the present time, and it is with a deep
feeling of disappointment and regret that I make this report.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
