Waterways, Alta. Dear Sir:
Your letter of December 30th has been received. We appreciate your feelings in regard to this matter and we delayed answering your letter in hope that we might be able to give you some definite answer in regard to this matter.
It is evident that your radio must have been stolen during a break-in at the warehouse in which it was stored. However, although reference has recently been made in the House of Commons to the possibility of setting up a Commission to deal with losses such as this, no specific advice has been received here in regard to this matter. If and when a decision is arrived at, we presume that the manner in which claims are to be presented will be dealt with also. You will then be in a position to act in regard to your lost radio.
In the meantime, your letters and the facts concerning your radio are on record, and will not be over-looked.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
