Department of the Secretary of State,
Japanese Evacuation Section
Vancouver, B.C. Dear Sir:
I would like to have the full credit for the sale of my property sent. The reason is that we would have to settle our personal debts.
There are items that I do not understand in the Balance Sheet you had sent. For instrance the Mortgage Balance came to $574.65. The mortgage was for $550.00. In the sheet you had already deducted Mortgage interest and etc. I would like to have an explanation.
Last of all I would like to complain that it is not my wish to have my properties sold. I would rather have it return but due to circumstance which was beyond my control, I'll have to accept the Custodian's offer.
Refer to file #2869.
Yours truly,

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
