He was born on 17 December 1907. He was a millhand. His family includes Masae Shimada (mother; nee Masae Nakamura), Ichimatsu Shimada (father), and Sakae Shimada (wife; in Japan). Hammond, BC and Jasper, AB are listed as former addresses. He was forcibly uprooted to Blue River, BC and was exiled to Japan in 1946.
