He was born on 17 December 1907. He was a millhand. His family includes Masae Shimada (mother; nee Masae Nakamura), Ichimatsu Shimada (father), and Sakae Shimada (wife). Hammond, BC and Jasper, AB are listed as former addresses. He was forcibly uprooted to Blue River, BC and was exiled to Japan in 1946.
