Tatsuo Oura
He was born on 21 March 1916. He was formerly known as Tatsuo Hamanishi but changed
his surname to Oura. He was a fisherman employed by the Ucluelet Fishing Company,
Ucluelet, BC. His family includes Kikue Hamanishi (mother; nee Kikue Sakai), Toranishi
Hamanishi (father), Shizue Oura (wife), Akio Oura (son), Masumi Oura (daughter), and
Hisao Oura (son). He lived in Ucluelet, BC and was forcibly uprooted to Greenwood,
BC. His listed seized property includes House No. 7 in Fraser’s Bay, Ucluelet, BC;
a boat, “T.O.”/“T.H.3127”; household belongings; tools; a gramophone; wooden rice
boxes; boxes of “Japanese Roll”; fishing equipment; toys; and lumber.
