Prince Rupert Japanese Association
The Prince Rupert Japanese Association consisted of fifty members at the time of its
closure on 10 December 1941. Its three trustees were Hirokichi Yamanaka [also listed
as H.K. Yamanaka], Heisaku Mochida [possibly Hirao Mochida], and Tom Shotaro Shimizu
[also, Shotaro Tom Shimizu]. Its other listed officers were Yaozo Kanaya, Kichie Sakamoto,
Tomojiro Kadonaga, Takeshi Yamamoto, Yutaka Suyehiro, and Kunisaburo Miwa. Its listed
seized assets include real estate in Prince Rupert, BC, consisting of a lot with two
buildings. It’s other seized assets were a piano; a mimeographing machine; a pingpong
table top; Japanese books; school books; photographs; and “Japanese records.”
