Minister of Fisheries
Dear Sirs:
I was referred to you by Mr. J.E. Gilmore of Kyuoquot to see if you could give me any information about the proposed plan of using the Japanese boats for fishing this coming season.
I am living at Chamiss Bay at present and have my home here and would like to get a boat for this season if possible to use for trolling from Bamfield to Quatsino.
If you could give me any information about this plan or let me know where I could get this information I would be much obliged.
Yours truly
G. Holden

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
