Dear Sir
I am a commercial Fisherman, I have worked on most of the Lakes in Ontario, Lake Wpg, also Lake Manitoba. Winter and summer.
I thoroughly understand the Industries. I also understand the value of it to Canada and thoroughly understand what it means to the West Coast Part of the Industries to have the Japanese out of it.
I can say that I never did like to see them fishing in our waters. it never was right. What I want to have the Dept. understand is that we, Canadians can look after ourselves I am one of them. and would like to get there. What? Information can I get from you. I’ll take over one of them Jap boats. I have a Family. and we can do our part
Please let me have a letter by return mail.
Yours truly
Jos. Thorstienson

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
