Dear Sirs:
Would you please send me any information you may have on commercial fishing (salt water) along the sound.
I would like your advice as to what chance a Canadian citizen, married with family would have making a living at fishing when he has had no experience except at fishing fresh water fish for sport.
I have already written to the Custodian of Alien Property at Vancouver about a Jap boat as what I had had in mind was buying one of those. Anything you can send me along these lines will be greatly appreciated.
Yours truly,
K. Martin

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
