M. G. Kavanagh to Federal Department of Fisheries, 14 April 1943

St. Boniface, Man. April. 14/43.
Department Of Game & Fisheries.
Ottawa Ont.
Dear Sir.
I would appreciate your department giving me some information regarding fishing boats at Vancouver B.C. I would like to know if the Government have Jap fishing boats for sale, to individual fishermen who would like to go into business at the coast.
If used boats are obtainable, who or what department would I write for this information. I am interested in a boat in the two thousand dollar class, with nets and equipment.
Will you kindly forward any information you may have on the above at your earliest convenience, and oblige.
Yours truly.
M. G. Kavanagh.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
