Scope and content
This item includes minutes of the War Committee of the Cabinet dated 05 July 1944 concerning the enlistment of Canadian-born Japanese people in the Canadian army. Minutes discuss the request from the Australian government to enlist Nisei for the Canadian army's attachment in Australian forces (service as translators and interpreters). Instead, the army staff suggested using white personnel of the Japanese Language school for this purpose. Minutes also discuss a request from the British Security Co-ordination for Nisei services in the Indian army for psychological warfare work.
