Dear Sir:
Re: Catalogue No. 170
3333 Parker Street
29/2/26W½/T.H.S.L
We are in receipt of your letter of September 23rd. This has been carefully read and we can appreciate that the disposal of your property
is a matter of great personal concern to you. However, the sale of all Japanese properties
is being carried out as a part of a policy of liquidation outlined by Ottawa on the basis of appraised values.
Your letter has been placed on our files so that your comments in regard to this sale
will remain on record, but we can only advise you that we are unable to consider any
alternative in regard to this matter.
With reference to your household furniture, no doubt by this time you have received
a copy of a letter sent to the Reverend McWilliams. We will advise Reverend McWilliams when the tenant vacates the premises so that
the furniture can be turned over to his care as arranged.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
