6th July, 1946.
Mr. Toyoshi Hiramatsu,
Registration No. 09460,
c/o Simon Ronacher, Athalmer, B.C. Dear Sir:
We wish to acknowledge your letter of the 15th June, in reply to our letter of the 16th May, in which we reported to you on our administration of your affairs.
We note your courteous but frank remarks regarding the sale price of your property. The sale of properties were however, carried out under instructions received from the Canadian Government at Ottawa, and were sold on the basis of appraised valuations. We appreciate that this is a matter of personal concern to you, but this office is unable to consider any other alternative.
Your letter however, will be placed on your file, where it will be available at any future date.
Yours truly, Administration Department.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
