Naoichi Karatsu to Mr W E Anderson, 20 June 1946
Copy for Mr. Shears
I wish to write you a few lines about the price of my farm land.
I am enclosing you a assessment notice from Municipality of Maple Ridge for the farm land in which I built another house in the year of 1942 which cost me $500.00, so that the property I am quite sure is worth $2950.00
Why did I have to sell the land so cheap such as $1032.00, while it worth so much as above mentioned?
I am naturalised and am British subject.
I wish you will investigate the above farm land again and give me the fair price.
Yours truly,

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
