Vernon, B.C. Dear Sir:
We wish to acknowledge your letter of the 19th August, and note your remarks protesting sale of your property.
As you are aware, a policy of liquidation was decided upon by the Canadian authorities at Ottawa, and while we appreciate that the sale of any property is a matter of personal concern, and may in some cases be contrary to the wishes of the owner, this office is unable to consider any other alternative.
Your protest is being placed on record in your file.
Yours truly,
W E Anderson,
Adminstration Dept.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
